   The number of completed but unsold new homes has risen parabolic since the sales peak of summer of
2005. It stood at 175K in Jan 2007. The estimated dollar value of these homes is 54.8 Billion Dollars.

Estimated Monthly Inventory = Average Monthly Sales Price  X  Number of Completed Homes For Sale

Assuming that homes sold in a month are representative of the overall inventory.
